How do we do it?

We reach the territories affected by the contamination of antipersonnel mines (MAP), unexploded ordnance (MSE) and explosive traps (TE), through pedagogical processes and accompaniment to farmers, indigenous, Afro, community leaders, women, men, older adults, people with disabilities, children and adolescents. We do promotion of safe behaviors and in the prevention of risk due to the presence or suspicion of explosive devices through education on the risk of antipersonnel mines.

Community risk management with a gender perspective for women

Community risk management with a gender perspective for women is an intervention strategy of the ERM, which aims to consolidate the community organization that streamlines community risk management processes in education on ERM. We empower women with leadership characteristics recognized within their community in identifying the risks associated with the presence of explosive devices. Characterizing the capacities of women, recognizing the roles they play, the level of vulnerability, the situation and gender condition, social, economic and cultural factors and mechanisms in which they develop their existence. This determines the situation of disadvantage and subordination in which they find themselves, strengthening their capacities, both personal and collective, and establishing risk management in their communities and in the territories affected by antipersonnel mines (MAP), unexploded ordnance (MSE) and explosive traps (TE).

Inclusive ERM

Mine Risk Education aims to include Embera, Katio and Wounnan communities, and people with visual and hearing disabilities in understanding and adopting safe behaviors from a differential approach. We adjust the territorial actions of the ERM according to to the specifications of these populations in language and interpretation, settled in the territories affected by antipersonnel mines (MAP), unexploded ordnance (MSE) and explosive traps (TE).
